TYPE: UNDERGROUND GOLD
LOCATION: CHARTERS TOWERS, QLD, AUSTRALIA

BACKGROUND

Pajingo is an expanding underground gold mine that identified the need for improved underground communications. Communications were seen as vi-tal to better management, and hence production. Encouraged by the success of other VDV systems in use, the decision was made to install a VDV Leaky Feeder system.

COMPOSITION

Transmission System with 4km underground leaky coax cable. 4 channel VDV Headend complete with Eclipse repeaters. 30 X Kenwood Mobiles

DESCRIPTION

The system consists of 4 kms of leaky feeder. The 4 Channel Headend is underground transmitting to the Vera and Cindy declines.

JUSTIFICATION

Pajingo identified communication as integral to improved productivity. Reliable voice communication between personnel underground, and between u/g and the surface, forms the basis of their management system. The success of VDV in achieving these requirements has given direct cost benefits, thus justifying Pajingo’s decision to install the system.
